Overview
This short birding tour takes you to two of Rajasthan’s best birdwatching spots: National Chambal Sanctuary near Dholpur and Keoladeo National Park at Bharatpur. Located in western India, these areas become home to many migratory and resident waterbirds during the winter season. Birds from colder regions of Asia fly here every year to find food and shelter.
Our first stop is the National Chambal Sanctuary, a beautiful river sanctuary known for its diverse birdlife and other wildlife like gharials and marsh crocodiles. We explore the river and its surroundings on boat safaris to see unique birds like Indian Skimmer, Bar-headed Goose, Knob-billed Duck, Woolly-necked Stork, and many more.
Next, we visit the world-famous Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its wetlands, grasslands, and woodlands, the park hosts over 400 species of birds. Over two days here, we look for special species such as Indian Courser, Sarus Crane, Demoiselle Crane, Painted Stork, Dalmatian Pelican, Imperial Eagle, Dusky Eagle-Owl, and many others.
This Bharatpur-Chambal birding tour is designed to give you a rich birding experience in a short time, without feeling rushed. We stay in comfortable lodges close to the birding spots and our expert guides ensure you make the most of each day.
